Robert H. Sadler

The Robert H. Sadler memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by friends and fraternity brothers of Robert Sadler ’84. He earned a Ph.D. in microbiology/virology at the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). He did research in virology for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of California. Shortly before his untimely and tragic death, he helped decipher the Byzantine genetic structure of the Kaposi’s sarcoma virus.

The scholarship award is given each year to a Bucknell student majoring in biology. To date, through monies donated by friends and fellow DU brothers and with market appreciation, the scholarship has grown to $111,000 in value and each year the recipient is awarded $5,500.

Since 2014 would have been Rob’s 30th Bucknell Reunion, we thought it would be a good time to reach out to the DU brotherhood with the hope they may direct some of their charitable giving to support the scholarship that has been established in Rob’s name.

If you are interested in making a contribution, please contact Linda Reinaker, Donor and Volunteer Relations Manager at 570-577-3650 or reinaker@bucknell.edu.

Thanks to all of you who have already contributed and to everyone who is considering a donation. Steve Harber ’85 & Kevin Nicholson ‘85
