Many brothers have been emailing their condolences:

In all of those wonderful years of being a caterer and spending so much quality time w/her, she used to joke (when we were teasing her about this or that), “Someday, when I am dead and gone, you will miss me! And then you will be sorry!!”

She was right….

Rest in Peace, Ruth. You were the best and made DU so special. Thank you for that.

What a unique experience she gave young men……if you were an ass she could be the best ball buster and if you wanted an ear there was none better. No one could send the basement into a stir like Ruth showing up to dance on the sticky floor as the girl you brought to the dance stood and watched her take over. If I could get one more slap in the back of my head for wearing cleats in the basement I would wear them.

My 1st stop coming back to Bucknell in 94′ was a morning coffee down the back stairs of the house………she treated us like we never left. Sure we will capture our best Ruth stories……….great times with one special gal.

Sad news indeed. So many good memories, but none better than a culinary lesson well learned: when you want to save time deep-frying, don’t bother cutting open the bag, rather, just drop one end of it into the hot fat and voila, the frozen goodies just tumble down into the fryer and begin their journey to the table 🙂 Rest in Peace, Ruth, and God Bless You for keeping us well fed all those years!

Sharing recollections of Ruth bring back some very fond and funny memories and there will clearly be a void without her when we all get together for reunions and other events. I will always remain thankful to Ruth for the breakfasts she made me every morning at 6:45AM after morning water polo practice during the season. It was usually just me and Ruth in the kitchen, and she made me whatever I wanted, along with whatever amount of cooking oil she wanted. I was typically in first heads by 7:15am as a result. RIP Ruthie.
